The Divide. 0

And this is it. I have a few work tasks to finish after lunch (editing photos, burning dvds and sending out evaluations) and afterwards, I am packing up Ryan and we’re off to Muskoka! A little trip with a lot of meaning. This trip will officially mark the end of summer for me and to be honest, I am ready for it to end. When I return I’ll be refreshed and ready to dive into a variety of new ideas and projects. September is always a kickoff for my motivation. My partner in crime and I have been tossing around ideas for a long time and we’re both in very good positions to make some magic happen. We’ve packed our bikes, bathing suits and tripods; It’s going to be equal parts luxury and nature and I can’t wait one more second.
Enjoy the loonng weekend everyone!

And that’s that. 0

The last weekend of the summer is over.

I suppose that statement doesn’t really mean much because even after everything that has happened in the past four months, nothing is slowing down.

I’ve been blessed to spend the summer with some amazing people and together we’ve hosted a send-off party, a wedding shower, a bachelorette, a few birthday bbqs, and a welcome back dinner. We’ve taken part in a beautiful wedding and in the same week, been there for each other at a funeral. We’ve entertained guests from all over the world, rode bikes, played volleyball and read books at the beach. I think I can safely say we took advantage of all that Toronto has to offer and successfully made up for lost time by constantly celebrating  the fact we are all living in the same city for the first time in years.

I had high hopes for this summer and apart from things beyond my control, there is nothing I would change. Obviously none of this would mean anything without friends & family to share it all with. Thank you all for being so helpful, ambitious, patient and beautiful. xo.

And of course, I have to publicly congratulate my dear friend for life and her new husband. I adore you guys!

I would love to showoff these great events through photos but there are so many to go through, I will present one of my favourites, taken by my youngest sister:

And because I feel bad 0

about leaving this place in maintenence mode for a week with no significant changes- I want to leave you with a small but funky playlist that can accompany you into the weekend. Press play.

Sidenote: What do you think of the Strawberry Letter 23 remix? One of the most sampled songs of alllllll time (there’s a cool video on YouTube showing all the songs that took from it) and super awesome in it’s original form. I’m liking this version too though, instrumental only.

So, fourwords went away for a while… 0

…because I want to update and renew.

However, at the moment I am swamped. I don’t have the time to get it done the way I want soo we will all have to be patient and wait until the time is right. I will say this though, I intend to form fourwords.ca into my original idea for this site- which was (in a nutshell) to showcase young Canadian talent and inspire the lost 20-something generation to act on their ideas. Of course this interest was re-ignited by the NY Times article and project circulating the web today.

The paper asked young photographers to document the life of 20-somethings in 2010 with iphone images and followed it up with an article about whyy this generation has such a prolonged state of transience.

The results!

This is what we are. I have so much to say on this topic I could start a whole new blog just dedicated to this which is kind of what I’m going to do with fourwords.Stay tuned.
